Plastic Surgery Revision · Delray Beach, Florida

When to Consider Revision

Timing depends on the problem. Some concerns should be observed while swelling and scars mature; others deserve earlier evaluation because they involve function, tissue viability, infection, exposure, or progressive deformity.

Reasons to wait

Early asymmetry, firmness, swelling, scar redness, and contour changes can evolve during healing. Waiting can make the true residual problem easier to identify.

Reasons for earlier evaluation

Pain, drainage, wound separation, implant exposure, threatened skin, infection concerns, functional problems, or rapidly progressive changes warrant clinical assessment rather than routine cosmetic observation.

What to bring to a revision consultation

The more complete the history, the better the analysis.

  • Prior operative reports
  • Implant/device information
  • Before-and-after photographs if available
  • Pathology or imaging relevant to the prior operation
  • A timeline of complications and prior corrective procedures

The endpoint

Revision surgery should solve a defined problem with a proportionate intervention. A consultation is useful even when the final recommendation is observation or no further surgery.
